Claude certification exam day — what actually happens

Booking your seat, after you have paid

Payment and scheduling are two separate steps with two separate companies, and the gap between them is where people lose track of the process. Anthropic takes the registration and the fee; Pearson runs the exam itself.

• You register and pay inside Anthropic Partner Academy, on the page for the certification you want.
• Anthropic emails you a link to Pearson.
• You log in at Pearson and schedule the appointment yourself — Anthropic does not pick the date for you.
• You choose online proctored or a Pearson test center at the moment you schedule.

The 24-hour rule, and what it costs to miss it

This is the single most expensive detail on this page, and it is worth quoting Anthropic's certification FAQ exactly rather than paraphrasing it:

• 24 hours or more before your appointment: reschedule or cancel free of charge.
• Less than 24 hours before, or a no-show: you forfeit the fee, and re-sitting means paying again.
• That fee is $99 to $175 depending on the certification — a meaningful amount to lose to a calendar mistake.

Before the day: run Pearson's system test

For an online proctored exam, your own computer and your own connection are part of the exam setup — and the time to find out they do not qualify is not five minutes before you are due to start. Anthropic's FAQ is explicit that the check is your job: your computer and connection must meet Pearson's requirements, and you should check those requirements and run Pearson's system test before exam day.

• Run Pearson's system test ahead of time, on the machine and the connection you will actually use.
• The exam is closed book. No notes, no second screen of documentation.
• Browser translation tools are not permitted under the Pearson proctoring platform.
• The exam is delivered in English only — as is Anthropic's own prep content.

How much time to actually block

The number people plan around is 120 minutes, and it is the wrong number to put in a calendar. The answering time is 120 minutes; the appointment is longer, because check-in, the instructions and a short post-exam survey all sit inside it.

Your score, and how the badge arrives

There is no waiting period to find out whether you passed. The result is immediate, and the credential follows by email.

• Your score appears on screen at the end of the exam, whether you tested online or at a test center.
• Test center candidates also receive a printed score report.
• Scores are reported on a scale of 100 to 1,000, and 720 is the minimum passing score for all four certifications.
• If you pass, the badge comes from Credly — usually within minutes for online proctored exams, and a little longer for test center exams.

Accommodations, and the parts nobody has published

If you need testing accommodations, they are requested through Pearson's accommodations process, not through Anthropic — and Anthropic asks that you plan to request them 10 days or more before the date you intend to test. That lead time is long enough to matter when you are booking around a work calendar.

It is also worth being straight about the limits of what is publicly documented. Anthropic's certification FAQ is the source for everything above, and there are exam-day questions it simply does not answer:

• The step-by-step check-in procedure, room requirements, and what may sit on your desk — not specified there either.
